VIDEO – In a Fox News interview, Karl Rove dodges a question about the “dark money” (secret funding) of his phony non-profit group, Crossroads GPS, by making up a lie about an Obama campaign lawyer.
Richard Bauer, the Obama campaign’s chief counsel, submitted a complaint to the FEC stating that Crossroads GPS cannot claim to be a “social welfare” organization in order to accept donations for its negative political ads from secret funders. In the complaint filed June 19, 2012, he writes, “Crossroads seems to believe that it can run out the clock and spend massive sums of money in this election without accounting for a trace of its funding”. “Now, a federal appellate court has issued a ruling that makes clear that Crossroads is out of time.”
Could some of their money be from foreign governments or foreign corporations? We may not know until after the election. Because the FEC is divided along party lines, its Republican members are expected to do whatever they can keep Rove’s donors secret. By forcing a split decision, the issue could wind up in the courts, which could stall any disclosure until after the election.
