VIDEO – Mitt Romney’s three positions on the Obamacare mandate in the one week since the Supreme Court’s ruling.
When the Supreme Court ruled that the Obamacare mandate is Constitutional because the mandate falls within Congress’ power to tax, Republicans rushed to demonize it using the evil ‘t-word’: “Ah-ha! The mandate is a TAX! Tax, tax, tax, tax, TAX!!”
But because Mitt Romney implemented the same healthcare law when he was governor of Massachusetts, he is having trouble staying with the GOP mandate-is-a-tax talking point. This video shows his three different positions on the Obamacare mandate in the one week since the Supreme Court’s decision. Tax, then penalty, then tax again.
Confused? It’s OK. No matter what you call it, it will only affect one percent of Americans (according to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office). Not exactly the “sweeping tax on the middle class” Republicans are trying to make it out to be.
The Obama Administration recently said the penalty “is modeled exactly on the penalty that exists in the health care reform that was promoted and signed into law by Governor Romney in Massachusetts.” So, Romney is running away from his own health care reform law because his party is against it. This also proves, for the 983rd time, that Mitt Romney will denounce everything he has ever done, if it helps him get elected (to do the bidding for his Wall Street masters).
