Paul Ryan Admits They “Haven’t Run The Numbers” On Their Budget Plan

VIDEO – Paul Ryan admits that the Romney campaign has not even run the numbers on their own budget proposal.  When asked when all of the cuts proposed in their budget would result in a balanced national budget, Ryan and others in the campaign admitted they have no idea.

Paul Ryan is supposed to be a “deficit hawk”, slashing and burning every government program he can find (except, of course, the biggest one of all: defense).  Most of the cuts in the Romney/Ryan budget involve slashing government services and programs for the middle and working class, including Medicare.  Ryan would make all of these cuts in the name of “balancing the budget” and “paying down the debt”, but he now admits they “haven’t run the numbers” as to when the plan would balance the budget.

The non-partisan Tax Policy Center found that the Romney budget would “provide large tax cuts to high-income households and increase the tax burdens on middle- and/or lower-income taxpayers”.  Mitt Romney responded by calling the respected organization’s findings “garbage”.  Apparently, Mitt Romney wants Americans to believe that cutting Amtrak and PBS will lead to a balanced budget.

The reality is that there are no numbers in their plans that add up to a balanced budget.  Their focus is on what it always has been: lowering taxes for the ultra-rich and raising taxes on the middle class while cutting programs and services (that billionaires don’t need).
