VIDEO – Mitt Romney, attempting to show his merits to be America’s top diplomat, insults the people of London by questioning their preparation for the Olympics and also the British public’s enthusiasm for the Games. Romney’s comments prompted a quick response from Prime Minister, David Cameron. “We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course it’s easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere,” said Cameron, which was an obvious reference to Salt Lake City and Utah.
Well, Mitt Romney is showing us what it would be like to have him as the head of state. He has already managed to cause two controversies in as many days in England. First, his campaign dropped obvious race-baiting comments about their candidate’s understanding of a shared Anglo-Saxon heritage as opposed to President Obama, who they said “didn’t fully appreciate the shared history we have.”
Now, Mitt Romney himself has insulted the people of Britain on the eve of their country’s Olympic opening ceremonies. His comments somehow suggest that he knows better about organizing an Olympics. In addition to David Cameron’s harsh rebuttal, the Daily Mail Online carried a headline, “Who invited him? US presidential hopeful Mitt Romney questions British public’s appetite for the Games during visit to London.”
Before Mitt Romney leaves London, maybe he will show them how to cover up any Olympic committee wrongdoings by destroying committee records.
