Romney Super PAC Spends $1.7 Million in Illinois

With just one day to go before primary election day in Illinois,  a Public Policy Polling poll shows Mitt Romney with a 15 point lead.  A Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV poll published just last weekend shows Mitt Romney only led Rick Santorum 35 percent to 31 percent – within the poll’s margin of error.  This is how a Super PAC goes to WORK – turning a statistical tie into a 15 point lead with a barrage of negative advertising!  So far, Romney and his friends have spent $2.26 million on ads in Illinois, with $1.7 million coming from his Super PAC, Restore Our Future.  The Super PAC spent $800,000 for ads to run Wednesday through election day in the expensive Chicago media market.

By comparison, the Santorum campaign and his Super PAC (Red White and Blue Fund) have only spent about $500,000.  Sorry, Rick.  You need more than just a couple of eccentric billionaires when you’re going against Mitt’s Wall Street warriors!
