VIDEO – Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid (D-Nevada), took to the Senate floor to repeat that Mitt Romney “hasn’t paid taxes for 10 years”. Sen. Reid adds, “Mitt Romney makes more money in a single day than the average middle class family makes in two years”.
Senator Reid also made the point that any cabinet officer that would come before the Senate for confirmation would have to provide more income and tax information than the one year (2010) of tax returns Romney has provided so far, and refusal to do so would result in the rejection of their confirmation. But that one single year of tax returns does show that Mitt Romney stashes his millions in the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, and a Swiss bank account, moving his income out of the United States to avoid paying taxes.
Are the millions of Romney-the-job-creator’s dollars in offshore accounts helping to create American jobs? This is an important question to ask because that practice would be defended and encouraged by a Romney presidency. You can bet $10,000 that the billionaires and Wall Street tycoons funding Mitt Romney are paying for a puppet to make it easier for them to exploit offshore sources of profit at the expense of the American economy.
Mitt Romney’s secrecy on his tax returns leads most Americans to believe that he is hiding something. Whatever is in Romney’s tax returns must be damning enough that enduring the constant barrage of criticism on the issue is better than actually showing the American people multiple years of returns (as Romney’s own father did when he was running for president).
