VIDEO – This 13-minute video documentary explores Paul Ryan’s longtime mission to end Medicare and Social Security.
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) is the author of the Republican budget proposal that would turn Medicare into a voucher program, ending the guarantee of healthcare for senior citizens. Mitt Romney’s VP running mate, Paul Ryan, is also in favor of privatizing Social Security, turning its funds over to Wall Street. His tax proposals include large tax cuts for the top 1% of income earners and raise taxes on the poor and middle class.
Mitt Romney’s selection of Paul Ryan as his Vice President highlights his own position to privatize Social Security and Medicare. As a puppet of Wall Street, Romney has found in Ryan someone who agrees with his mission to give as much power to the banks and hedge funds as possible. Over the last two decades, Wall Street and big corporations have managed to grab as much of the nation’s capital as they possibly could, virtually bankrupting the country and bringing America to the brink of economic collapse because of their unregulated gambling on the artificially inflated housing market.
Under the Republican majorities of 2001-2007, they also made a serious push, through Republicans like Paul Ryan, to get their hands on the money in Social Security and turn that over to their Wall Street masters. Although the attempt facilitated by President George W. Bush ultimately failed in 2005, you can be sure that the GOP will again attempt to privatize our security programs for senior citizens under the leadership of Romney and Ryan.
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have made it abundantly clear: if you want to end Medicare and Social Security and return to the economic policies of the George W. Bush Administration (lowering taxes for the richest Americans, while raising taxes on the working class and middle class), they are your clear choice in November.
